Description

Every tourist who came to Thailand on vacation has a favorite place. But there is a corner in the Andaman Sea that will forever conquer the hearts of even the most demanding travel connoisseurs. We are talking about the islands of the Surin archipelago, which were declared a protected area more than 40 years ago. Unlike the nearby Similan Islands, there are no huge crowds of tourists on Surin. The nature here fascinates with its pristine beauty, and the coastal waters – with the richness of the underwater world.

Surin Island is 5 pieces of land. We will disembark on the largest of them - Koh Surin Nua. It is here that the most picturesque beaches of the archipelago are located, hidden under the shade of tropical forests. 4 beaches are best suited for relaxation - Mae Ngam, Mae Yai, Tao and Luk. For snorkeling, choose Mae Yai beach, and for diving - Luk, near whose shores the sea has an impressive depth. If scuba diving has long been a source of drive and adrenaline for you, you should visit Koh Surin Tai. At night, during low tide, you can admire the beauty of a huge reef protruding from the water.

Our excursion to the Surin Islands will not be complete without getting acquainted with the life of sea gypsies (Moken). Their main occupations are fishing, making and selling souvenirs to tourists. Islanders spend most of their lives on boats in the sea, so their life is surprisingly simple and uncomplicated. The Moken almost completely deny technological progress and live in the same way as their distant ancestors lived.

Important!

Near Surin is one of the most famous dive sites in the world - the Richelieu Rock. In fact, it is not one, but two horseshoe-shaped rocks. The depth of the sea reaches 30 m on the outside of the rocks, and no more than 15 m on the inside. The waters in Richelieu literally teem with life. Here you can see turtles and barracudas, moray eels, and if you're lucky, majestic whale sharks.
